Description
In May, the month of the Virgin, every Wednesday at 17:00, the “Invocations of the Virgin” tour will be offered to explore the different depictions of the Mother of God in chapels and other spaces of the temple. The Cathedral itself is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin, and there are chapels such as the Virgin of the Rosary, Saint Barbara, and the Immaculate Conception that, in addition to their religious symbolism, feature artistic and historical details in the context of the Church and for the Cathedral itself. The Virgin of Peace, the Virgin of Pópulo, the Virgin of the Ancient, and more are depicted in paintings, sculptures, or stained-glass windows that reflect devotion to the Virgin Mary. The tour will also delve into the meaning and origin of these invocations, which hold deep connection and devotion among the people of Segovia.
